Relying on volunteers for various tasks has always been part of the dynamic within many mission-driven organizations, for profit and nonprofit alike. While some organizations fully rely on volunteers to advance their mission and vision, others look at volunteer engagement as a “nice” addition to their team since “everyone is doing it”. Regardless of their approaches, these organizations are constantly facing challenges when it comes to recruiting volunteers, managing them, communicating with them and using these resources to add value to their work, but also provide meaning experiences to those offering their time and expertise.
One thing is for sure: volunteers should be seen as change makers that help your organization advance its work, not as a burden. This interactive workshop is designed both for organizations and potential volunteers as it addresses the current narrative around volunteering and volunteer engagement. We will go through the volunteering journey step by step and show you how to make the most of it:
- Assess your need for volunteers: extra help or unnecessary burden?
- How to recruit volunteer: attracting the talent you need
- Evaluation: The PAT Framework
- Getting started with volunteers
- How to communicate with volunteers
- Volunteer’s experience: what are you able to offer?
- From volunteer to staff member
