IDEA & ENTERPRISE OVERVIEW:
Elevating H.E.A.R.T.S. enhances media literacy through workshops that provide young scholars (grades 6-12) the tools necessary to critically think and engage across various platforms. Participants in our program learn to access, analyze, create, and act in all forms of communication while exposing them to higher education.
Elevating H.E.A.R.T.S. envisions a generation of empowered and media-literate youth who are confident and competent media consumers and creators that strive for higher education. These individuals thrive amid diverse media landscapes with literacy and critical thinking skills they need for health, well-being, economic growth and citizenship.
PERSONAL BIO
Born and raised in Southern California, Nanyori Davis-Arnold is the founder of Elevating H.E.A.R.T.S, a nonprofit venture based in Riverside, California. As a student and social entrepreneur, Nanyori’s work centers on addressing issues that face youth who are bombarded with unrealistic beauty standards, societal expectations, and harmful ideals perpetuated by the media and their peers. Her passion for social impact was sparked by her own experiences of low self-esteem, isolation, and experience with toxic behaviors such as bullying during her formative years. This realization fueled her commitment to creating positive change and fostering a more inclusive environment for future generations. Currently, Nanyori is working towards a Bachelor of Arts degree in Ethnic Studies at the University of California, Riverside.
